Burning Question: Induction at The Ainsley or Gas at The Addison?

A big decision for homeowners today is choosing between a gas or induction cooktop. For both professional and at-home chefs alike, the choice of a cooktop often comes with a lot of back-and-forth. The good news? Here at The Melrose Collection, The Ainsley’s residences are built with induction, while The Addison’s townhomes feature gas cooktops.

If you’re torn between the two different types of cooktops, take a look at our helpful breakdown, below.

Induction — Why You’ll Love It at The Ainsley

The residences at The Ainsley feature kitchens with Wolf’s ever-popular 36” professional induction range. With five induction zones, you can keep multiple items cooking simultaneously—ensuring your entire meal stays warm by the time it’s plated.

Offering speed, energy efficiency, and safety, an induction cooktop is often selected by those seeking a sleek look within a home. An induction cooktop is also very easy to clean because of its smooth, flat surface. For home chefs, induction makes a great choice thanks to its speed and heat efficiency created by electricity flowing through the coils below the ceramic glass surface.

Even better, Wolf’s 36” induction range allows you to transform two burners into one large burner by using a built-in bridge feature. Cookware-sensing burners deactivate when an induction-compatible pan is not in place, keeping safety a high priority in every kitchen at The Ainsley.

Gas — A Favorite at The Addison

On the other hand, residents at The Addison love using the Wolf 36” 5-burner gas cooktops. With Wolf’s cooktop at The Addison, you’ll be able to use the dual-stacked burners which go from high heat all the way down to a mere flicker of a flame. It’s easy to simmer and melt sauces, soups, and marinades with the lower tier of the dual-stacked burner. With the upper tier burner, you’ll get more rapid boils and hotter sears.

Since gas cooktops use a flame to heat food, it’s typically considered easier to control heat and adjust in real-time. A reliable cooking option, a gas cooktop looks aesthetically pleasing for those seeking more of an industrial feel with its cast-iron burner grates elevated over the countertop.

Plus, an extra feature of the Wolf 36” 5-burner gas cooktop is the spark ignition system, which reignites a flame automatically, ensuring safer cooking and maintaining temperature control. Whip up your next recipe in a snap using the Wolf gas cooktop at The Addison, all while enjoying a range of almost unheard of precision control.Warming up to one cooktop over another? We’d love to hear your thoughts. Contact our sales team at themelrosecollection@etcohomes.com to schedule an appointment to view one of our residences.

Meet Our Haute New Neighbor: Gucci x Adidas

Living at The Addison or The Ainsley just got even more couture. The high-fashion brand Gucci has opened a new store on Melrose Avenue, mere minutes from the walk-up townhomes at The Addison and The Ainsley nearby. Trendsetters are ready to shop the new Gucci x Adidas collection and browse the shelves of even more high-end stores soon to open in the Melrose District.

On June 7, Adidas and Gucci dropped their new collaboration, which originally debuted on the fall 2022 runway. Celebrities like Madonna and her son, David Banda, have been seen wearing the collection in advance of its availability in stores.

Designed by creative director and designer Alessandro Michele, the collection showcases just how stylish sportswear can be. Aspects of both brands are alive in the designs, such as Adidas’ trefoil logo and the familiar Gucci monogram. Tracksuit sets, shorts, skirts, and accessories make up the sell-out collection that’s had influencers and fashion stars in the industry talking.

One of the few pop-up shops selling the Gucci x Adidas collection is in our very own neighborhood, here on Melrose Avenue—just steps away from The Addison and The Ainsley. The four additional pop-up locations are currently in New York, Miami, Chicago, and Houston.

After taking over the former Marc Jacobs space, Gucci joins the continually expanding lineup of luxury brands in the Melrose District, including the likes of Balmain, Bottega Veneta, and more. With even more luxury brand names coming soon to the neighborhood, residents of The Ainsley and The Addison can never tire of the sophisticated shopping in the area.

There’s even more good news—Gucci is here to stay. While the pop-up will bring in crowds in the early days of the store’s opening, after its run, Gucci will continue to offer high-end shopping on Melrose Avenue. Continuing to be one of the most desired streets in all of Los Angeles, Melrose Avenue is the place to see and be seen this summer—in your most fashionable outfit, of course!Interested in more reasons to love living at The Melrose Collection? You’ll get all the elegance of the Melrose District with a little more edge and bustle. Spruce up your wardrobe at Reformation, then take a quick selfie at Paul Smith’s famous Pink Wall.

Architecture and Floor Plans

As a Los Angeles interpretation of New York’s Upper West Side brownstone buildings, The Addison offers two and three-level townhomes and select walk-ups. The modern Spanish-inspired architecture leaves little to be desired. Ranging from 1,244 to 3,036 square feet, the homes at The Addison are available in 1-, 2- and 3-bedrooms.

On the other hand, The Ainsley is designed in a contemporary, Tuscan-inspired architectural style. Available as either one- or two-level residences, The Ainsley is thoughtfully designed and seamlessly connects expansive interior and exterior living spaces. Rising four stories above street-level and with layouts ranging from 862 to 2,471 square feet, The Ainsley exemplifies modern spatial design, also in 1-, 2- and 3-bedroom options.

Interior Design

Your surroundings impact your life in multifold ways. That’s why we’ve carefully designed the communities at The Melrose Collection with only the finest materials and appliances.

Enviable Home Designs for Every Desire

Keeping a lifestyle of luxury is effortless at The Ainsley and The Addison, thanks to six sophisticated design styles to choose from when you purchase your home. Whether you prefer a neutral grayscale palette or soft, light tones, the homes at The Melrose Collection have design options well-suited for your particular taste. Plus, our homes use only the finest materials available, so sinking into style is not just easy—it’s also timeless.

The Addison

Influenced by Spanish architecture, The Addison presents a sophisticated new sensibility and contemporary take on a traditional design. A backdrop of soft earth tones and arid landscape complement clean lines and modern accents. Blending natural materials, such as limestone and plaster, creates a playful elegance to this inspiring community of 28 uniquely designed two- and three-level townhomes.

Interior design options at The Addison include the following:

Nordic

Inspired by Scandinavian style, the Nordic is infused with soft, light tones which emphasize an organic approach to interior design. Simple yet sophisticated finishes, like sand-hued wide-plan oak floors, invite natural themes into the interior space. A kitchen with white marbleized Caesarstone counters and a mix of glossy, weather-gray and wood-grain Snaidero cabinetry rounds off the entire look.

Modern

Serene through streamlined design, the Modern is meditative, focused on minimizing distractions. With a neutral grayscale palette, the Modern’s interiors incorporate deep gray oak floors, textured wall treatments, and a kitchen with polished gray and white Caesarstone countertops. Matte gray Snaidero cabinetry makes an impressive statement without overpowering the design.

Urban

If bold design is more your flavor, go with The Addison’s Urban design option. Richly stained hardwood floors complement the pewter marbelized Caesarstone counters in the kitchen. This combination of finishes turns up the volume on style while still remaining a versatile home for a wide array of furnishings and decor. In the bathroom, crisp Caesarstone in white beckons relaxation.

The Ainsley

Inspired by Tuscan sensibility, each residence at The Ainsley is thoughtfully designed and seamlessly connects expansive interior and exterior living spaces. Rising four stories above street-level, the interiors provide the backdrop for simplified living, complete with ready-made spaces perfect for entertaining. The Ainsley’s impeccably designed layouts feature an original mix of natural materials, refined finishes, and pristine detailing.

Interior design options at The Ainsley include the following:

Noir

Just as the name suggests, the Noir design option at The Ainsley is steeped in dramatic tones. Espresso-colored wood finishes throughout the kitchen pair with dark Caesarstone quartz countertops, creating a pristine look and feel throughout each residence. An abundance of natural light flows inside through floor-to-ceiling glass doors.

Luminaire

A little on the lighter side is the Luminaire. Contemporary yet filled with warmth, the Luminaire is crafted with timeless materials. Lovers of European design will notice the Euro-style drawers and doors featuring a soft closing mechanism. In the bedroom, an accent wall with a geometric pattern catches the eye—highlighted by LED recessed lighting.

Perla

Striking and versatile with richly stained hardwood floors, the Perla offers a sleek look at every turn. A light palette in the bathroom is accented by a modern, black tile in the shower. A Gessi® waterfall showerhead in the primary bathroom creates a retreat away from the bustle of city life below.

Both The Addison and The Ainsley are part of The Melrose Collection, embodying a personality that responds to the energetic call of Los Angeles. The townhomes and condos of The Melrose Collection offer an elevated living standard within the highly-coveted destination of Los Angeles.

Three Benefits Of The Ainsley’s Buzzing Beehome

Through our partnership with Alvéole and urban gardener Amanda Haas, The Ainsley has recently housed thousands of bees atop the rooftop terrace. Now, the bees are busy at work filling out their hive and packing in nectar and pollen from nearby flowers.

Our growing hive at The Ainsley holds over 15,000 bees flying more than 9,800 miles daily. What’s bee-hind the benefits of locally sourced honey? There’s more to it than meets the eye:

A Spoonful A Day Keeps The Allergens Away

Sneezing less this season? It might be your daily honey habit keeping your allergies at bay. When the bees at The Ainsley’s BeeHome visit the plants and flowers in the neighborhood, they gather pollen and bring it back to the hive.

The pollen found naturally in honey is crucial to boosting your immune system. Sourcing locally makes all the difference––since most seasonal allergies are caused by what’s directly in your environment.

Locally-Sourced Honey Is High In Antioxidants

Honey isn’t just sweet to the taste, it’s also packed with nutrient-rich antioxidants. When you enjoy a spoonful of honey alone or drizzled over an açaí bowl, you’re also reaping the benefits of polyphenols, powerful antioxidants shown to reduce the risk of heart disease and cancer. Many fruits and vegetables are also rich in polyphenols.

Plus, there’s also evidence showing that honey can soothe a cough or sore throat. Stir some in a cup of hot tea for a comforting drink or mix it into your favorite salad dressing.

Bees Give Back To Our Environment

As pollinators, bees play a part in every aspect of the ecosystem. Bees pollinate more than 130 varieties of fruits and vegetables around the globe, representing a third of our food supply. They’re an essential part of food production and sustainable preservation of large populations of bees, butterflies, bumblebees, and other pollinators that are in rapid decline all over the world.

The BeeHome at The Ainsley supports the ongoing effort to create biodiversity within our community and contribute to a more sustainable approach to urban living in Los Angeles.

We’re proud to offer the BeeHome to our residents and maintain a commitment to our local community. Follow along for updates as our busy bees work on the next harvest of honey for residents of The Melrose Collection.
